Alison Saar Tree Souls from the Brooklyn Museum exhibit

The Madison Square Park art program will continue this fall with sculpture from Los Angeles artist Alison Saar, according to the New York Times and the Madison Square Park Conservancy.

From September 22nd through December 31st, Saar will have 6 sculptures in the park under the installation name “Feallen and Fallow”. The concept is around the four seasons as depicted in the female form at different ages. “It’s about the natural environment and dealing with issues of age and the seasons in a woman’s life,” Ms. Saar said.

The installation will replace the current Jaume Plensa giant head sculpture (up through mid-August) and follows prior installations such as the Antony Gormley sculptures, Jim Campbell’s ‘Scattered Light’ video, and a strong tradion of other artists including William Wegman and Sol LeWitt.
