We had the Gormley sculptures, and we now have Campbell’s ‘Scattered Light’ video, but word is out that next up, Spanish artist Jaume Plensa will display a 44ft sculpture of his in Madison Square Park. The sculpture will be on display from May 5th through mid-August as part of the Madison Square Conservancy’s groundbreaking Madison Square Art public art program.

The piece, Echo, is a giant fiberglass resin face of a young girl in a dream state and was inspired by both a real 9 year old and the Greek nymph Echo. It was created for this exhibition (rendition pictured here).

To see more worked by Plensa, go to the Richard Gray Gallery.
