The tunnel on Park Avenue (entrance on 33rd Street) will become an interactive art installation over the next 3 Saturdays (coinciding with Summer Streets). Artist Rafael Lozano-Hemmer created the exhibit, which lets people walk half way into the tunnel, which will be closed to cars, and say something into a device which will then translate that into sound and light waves which will move out of the tunnel via 300 theatrical spotlights and 150 loudspeakers. The intensity of the light waves will be determined by how loud, and what pitch, the original words were spoken.

The installation will only be up from 7am-1pm on the three Summer Street Saturdays (August 3rd, 10th, and 17th).
