Word is in that a 60 story, 777 foot new glass condo tower will be moving forward at 41 East 22nd Street (between Broadway and Park Avenue South). The new building is being developed by Bruce Eichner of Continuum, with Kohn Pederson Fox and Goldstein Hill & West as the architects.

This is just a few buildings down from the One Madison Park glass tower at 23 East 22nd Street. Most units at One Madison Park had nothing blocking their views in any direction, but this building will be right up there with them.

Of course the whole neighborhood is red hot for real estate, and One Madison Park leads the way with recently announced purchases by Rupert Murdoch (top 4 floors for 57.3 million) and Tom Brady and Giselle.

The rumor is that Bruce Eichner bid on the once distressed One Madison Park development and lost to Related Co and HFZ Capital Group, so this is his attempt to one-up them with a higher tower according to the real estate gossip circles.

The building seems a bit out of place at that height, changing the cityscape of the neighborhood, and will become the largest building between the Empire State Building and the Financial District.777 foot luxury condo tower to be built on 22nd Street in the Flatiron, 4.3 out of 5 based on 4 ratings
