BusinessWeek is reporting that News Corp Chairman (and Fox CEO) Rupert Murdoch is reportedly buying the top 4 floors of the new condo development One Madison Park (23 East 22nd Street between Broadway and Park Ave) for 57.3 million. The 4 floors (57-60) total about 10,160 square feet putting the price at a staggering (and likely record-setting for the area) $5,639/square foot. The glass tower building is on the south side of Madison Square Park, with views of the park and in all directions around the city.
Tom Brady and Giselle also reportedly recently bought a condo in One Madison Park. The development has gone through quite the ups and downs (read more here) but is now one of the most sought after buildings in the red-hot Madison Square Park neighborhood.
Madison Square Park property has skyrocketed in the last 7 years with the addition of several residential conversions and new developments including the Grand Madison, The Whitman and 15 Madison Square North, on the north side of Madison Square Park, 10 Madison Square West, on the west side, and One Madison Park on the south side.
Madison Square Park view condo units still trade at a discount on average to Central Park facing units, but they have appreciated quickly as the Madison Square Park and Flatiron neighborhoods continue to become a center for the city’s best restaurants (Eleven Madison Park, Craft, Gramercy Tavern, Eataly), an epicenter for tech startups, a magnet for fashion design houses like Vera Wang, as well as interactive ad agencies and the headquarters of many prestigious companies such as the Whitney museum, Tiffany & Co., Chipotle, and Grey Group.Rupert Murdoch reportedly buys top 4 floors of One Madison park condo for 57.3 million,
