Sony Corporation of America will move its US headquarters to 11 Madison Avenue (between 24th and 25th Street) overlooking Madison Square Park, reports the New York Post.
Sony previously had space at 550 Madison near 55th Street, but in the footsteps of other prestigious brands, (Tiffany & Co, Grey Group, Vera Wang, Porcelanosa, Grohe, Whitney Museum) Sony selected our neighborhood for its headquarters.
They will reportedly take 500,000 square feet in the same building which also is the home of the Credit Suisse headquarters and one of the world’s best restaurants, Eleven Madison Park. The neighborhood is a great fit and branding move for Sony, which will be in the heart of New York City’s digital media and startup epicenter.
Sony of course has its Sony Electronics division, Sony Pictures (film and tv), Sony Music, Sony Computer, Sony Online Entertainment (EverQuest®, DC Universe Online™, Clone Wars Adventures™, etc), and of course Sony Playstation.
[Update 9/18: We learn from Sony that they have a term sheet but it is not a done deal. They did announce the likely move to their employees though.]
