The Flatiron BID in conjunction with General Assembly are offering a free tech class tonight called “Intro to the NYC Startup Community”. It starts at 6pm and is open to the public, although they would love it if you register through events@flatironbid.org. As an added bonus, refreshments will be provided by Benvenuto. The location is in the public space just south of Madison Square Park and next to the Flatiron building (Broadway between 22nd and 23rd Street).

It will be taught by General Assembly’s Anna Lindow and will cover “the inside scoop on key events/meetups to attend, people, companies, VCs, blogs, incubators, programs, hot issues, and more. The role of key players such as TechStars, HackNY, New York Tech Meetup, foursquare, WeAreNYTech, betaworks, and Tumblr will be discussed.”

This is the first of 3 free public courses hosted by the Flatiron BID. The next will be ‘Programming for Non-Programmers’ on July 12th, and ‘Business Development Tactics’ on August 9th.
