It’s 2000 all over again, when you could get a dvd or pint of ice cream delivered to you by Kosmo or Urbanfetch. Postmates has launched a new delivery service that currently will deliver you almost anything from stores and restaurants for a $5-10 fee in an hour or less. So now you can get food from the restaurant that won’t deliver to your area. Or pick up an item at a store for you (office supplies, groceries, cupcakes, etc.).
They say they will pick up from anywhere across Manhattan and currently will deliver to the Flatiron and Madison Square Park neighborhoods (from 14th Street to 42nd Street, and from 8th Avenue to Lexington Avenue). Basically they pair you with person who will retrieve and deliver your items, and you can be in contact with them, track their progress, and then rate them. The service runs from 8am to midnight.
Clearly we already have a ton of restaurants and shops that will deliver to us, but now you can get those that won’t in about an hour. And you do it all from a mobile app.
