We get word from the Observer that the the Whitman full floor condos under construction at 21 East 26th Street (between 5th Avenue and Madison Avenue) will all be priced over $10 Million, with the penthouse listing at $22.5 Million. The 3 full floor units are all said to be around 5000 square feet, with the penthouse duplex coming in at 6,250 square feet (and a whopping 27,500-square-feet of air rights!!!). In recent years, Madison Square Park facing condo units have started to consistently cross the $2000/square foot mark.
We are used to seeing new housing developments and conversions with hundreds of units, but the Whitman will feature just 4 huge full floor residences with views on to the north side of Madison Square Park. But don’t think just because there are only 4 units that there will be no amenities…the Whitman will be a full service doorman building.
We originally heard that the development would be featured on Bravo TV’s Million Dollar Listing, but we are not sure if that is still the case.
The architecture firm on the project is Jeffrey Cole Architects and the brokers will reportedly be Melanie Lazenby and Dina Lewis of Douglas Elliman. No word yet on occupancy dates, but the scaffolding is now down.
