The Wall Street Journal reports that Time Warner Cable has selected the Flatiron, along with the Financial District and parts of Brooklyn, for a $25 million fiber optic network meant to give businesses in the neighborhood the fastest internet broadband speeds available.

Time Warner’s fiber optic networks are expected to deliver up to one gigabyte per second which should prove valuable to neighborhood startups, tech companies, and other digital media and design firms with big bandwidth needs.
