The Flatiron Hotel issues a call for all artists and performers

The yet-to-be officially launched Flatiron Hotel (9 West 26th Street at Broadway) is looking for artists and performers to be part of a weekly series of live performances right in the lobby. The stage will be visible from all angles (including through the glass windows on to Broadway and 26th Street) for maximum exposure.

All creative types should get in contact with them. Writers, producers, photographers, performers, musical directors, playwrights, songwriters, librettists, composers, choreographers, and singers are all encouraged to apply. It’s all part of Toshi’s Playhouse, named after new hotel owner and actor (The Departed, lots of tv) Robert ‘Toshi’ Chan.

Applications in the form of a cd, script, transcript, photos, music, and ideas should be submitted to:

KEXP live music at the ACE Hotel from 16 bands!

Timed with the CMJ 2011 music festival which starts in New York City on Wednesday October 19th, there will be an incredible number of live performances right in our neighborhood at the Ace Hotel (20 West 29th Street). It’s hosted by legendary Seattle public radio station KEXP, which is always at the forefront of discovering new great independent music.

According to the KEXP site, ‘All performances are free and open to the public. Please note that space is limited — first come, first served.’ Not sure if they will stream the shows live, but they seem to always play them eventually. Personally I get the KEXP podcast through itunes, but you can also stream from the http://kexp.org/ website.
