Bazar Bistro closes and Nasha Rasha opens in its place

Bazar Bistro has closed after about a year in the Flatiron at 4 West 19th Street (between 5th Avenue and 6th Avenue), and in its place Nasha Rasha has opened.

Nasha Russia features modern Russian-fusion entrees, small plates and cocktails, with a massive stock of vodkas.

Here is the Nasha Russia dinner menu.

Word is they also have a happy hour Monday-Friday from 4-7pm where you get 2 drinks and 2 appetizers for $10. That’s one of the best deals we have heard of in the neighborhood. Read about it at www.nasharashanyc.com/index_specials.html.

An inside look at the neighborhood ping pong epicenter SPiN

MadparkNews finally hit Flatiron ping pong hipster epicenter SPiN (48 East 23rd Street) last night to test our pong skills and check out the scene.

SPiN features 17 ping-pong courts, a full bar, restaurant, pro-shop and private VIP room and of course is co-owned by Susan Sarandon. Check out newyork.spingalactic.com/spingalactic/media.php to see all the celebs and hijinks that go on there.

It’s a great spot for groups as well (happy hour, adult birthdays, re-living college days) and for the hardcore, they have tournaments and memberships that get you half off table rates among other perks. All info at newyork.spingalactic.com/spingalactic.

Here is some quick (iphone video) of the place:

Les Halles offering a bottle of champagne at half off Sunday through Thursdays after 10pm

Les Halles (411 Park Avenue South between 28th & 29th Streets) wrote in to let you all know that Sunday through Thursday after 10pm, you can get a bottle of sparkling wine (Cremant de Loire) for half off (basically a $50 bottle for ~$25). Considering one glass of chanpagne is often $12-20, getting a bottle for this price is a deal.

So if you are out and about with friends, on a date, or staying at the Gansevoort Park Hotel (across the street), this is a great spot for an inexpensive bottle of sparkling.

As most of you know, Les Halles is a Parisian-style brasserie serving traditional French seafood and steak and the home base of celebrity chef Anthony Bourdain.

Bounce Sporting Club (sports bar) opens in the Flatiron

There is a new and very large sports bar in the Flatiron called Bounce Sporting Club (55 West 21st Street between 5th and 6th Avenue). It opened last week and features 4000 square feet of space to watch 30 HD TVs for game watching. They also have a full bar with drinks from mixologist Charlotte Voisey, and restaurant menu with gourmet burgers, sliders, wings, and more.

It was also immediately named top sports bar in New York City by Haute Living. Not a bad first week!

We haven’t been there yet for a game, but will check it out soon. Give them a call at 212-776-1997 to see if your game is on.

Free drinks (wine, sangria, PBR, iced coffee) tonight at Birch

Tonight at Burch Coffee (5 East 27th Street in the Gershwin Hotel) they are celebrating with complimentary drinks ‘including our house white wine, red sangria, PBR, and of course iced coffee’. It goes from 7-10pm so get over there!

What are they celebrating? The launch of their iced coffee jug delivery service and their new website (http://www.birchcoffee.com/). With the jug delivery service you can get a weekly or bi-weekly delivery of cold-brewed iced coffee to your office or home and be the hippest company on the block (with caffeinated, happy employees).

Admission for 2, a dozen oysters and 2 drinks at the Museum of Sex for $19

Living Social has a date night deal for you at the Museum of Sex (233 5th Avenue at 27th Street) where for only $19 you get admission for 2, 2 drinks, and a dozen oysters (from City Crab).

It looks like they have availability on August 11th or 18th in the evening.
