Heads & Tails benefit dog & owner salon day in the Flatiron on Saturday

There is a pretty unique fundraising event this Saturday at James Corbett Studio in the Flatiron (25 West 19th Street).

From noon-3pm, Animal Planet’s celebrity groomer Jorge Bendersky will be doing essential oil treatments for your dog (donation $25) and celebrity stylist James Corbett will be doing lavender scalp treatments for dog owners (donation $25, or $65 with blowout or $125 with haircut), with proceeds going to Bidawee.

There will also be some giveaways and a book signing.

Donate to improve the Madison Square Park Dog Run!

[Donate at]. One of the great features of Madison Square Park is the dog run, where dog owners can come to let their dogs run around off leash. It’s also quite popular as a dog watching spot and adds to the community of the park. Kids love getting to look in and see dogs as well.

What we didn’t know is that the free dog run is reportedly sustained by donations, and not the city or the Conservancy. It also can get pretty muddy and smelly in there when not maintained, which doesn’t serve anyone.

If you use the dog run, please consider donating any amount to help get new gravel and waste bags. Maybe they could even irrigate it better for when it rains. If you don’t use it but walk past it, a little gravel is going to go a long way to making it, and the park a nicer place.
