We have been informed that the new CityMD offices soft-open today, and will open more widely to the public as early as Wednesday, May 9th.  The new location is just west of Madison Square Park at 37 West 23rd Street (near 5th Avenue). Something between your regular doctor and an ER room, CityMD provides walk-in urgent medical care 365 days/year for adults and kids without appointments or referrals necessary. It’s a nice option to know about when you need quick care in the neighborhood.

They take most insurance plans and already have successful practices on the Upper East and Upper West side of Manhattan. According to their website, “All physicians working in our facilities are US trained and board
certified in emergency medicine. ” The new Flatiron location will be UCAOA certified shortly.

Note that CityMD is not the place to go for life-threatening emergencies (go to the ER for that), but rather it seems they will treat you for things like fever/cold/flu/sprains/fractures/cuts/etc. See the full list of at http://citymd.net/about-urgent-care-nyc/injuries-illness-treatment-manhattan-nyc. They will be open weekdays from 8am-10pm, and weekends from 9am-9pm.

We have never been to a CityMD facility and can not comment on the actual experience, but from the Yelp reviews for both the Upper East Side (4.5 stars) and Upper West Side (5 stars), people seem to love it.

We have been told they will also be having a community event in June once they are settled into the new location. Stay tuned…
