1200 Miles restaurant is now open in the Flatiron at 31 West 21st Street (between 5th and 6th Avenue) in the spot previously held by Prandial.

Cleverly named for the distance between Paris and Algiers, the restaurant as you might expect features Algerian and French food, but also dishes that you might encounter along the way if traveling between the two spots. So there are Moroccan Tagines, Spanish Grilled Octopus in addition to classic Parisian dishes. Here is the full menu.

It’s the work of Chef Pierre Rougey, whose mother is Algerian and father French, and owner Mark Stern.

Chef Rougey was formerly at Prandia, as well as an instructor at the French Culinary Institute of NYC, Chef/Owner of Emerson’s Restaurant in Long Island, and Executive Chef of Raoul’s and La Tour Bistro.
