Another cheese shop has opened in our neighborhood, and this time it’s a popular import from Williamsburg. Bedford Cheese Shop opened up at 67 Irving Place (between 18th and 19th Street) featuring 300 cheeses from around the world, plus olives, cured meats, pickles and a sandwich of the day. It’s another great addition to the neighborhood for cheese.

This Bedford Cheese Shop location also has a space for classes called the Homestead. Here are the next few classes offered at the Homestead classroom space:

  • August 13th: American Cheese Makers – Learn about the American cheese movement and sample 10 cheeses, 2 beers and condiments. $69.57
  • August 15th: Cheese Social Night: Western French Sheep and Goat Cheese – Sample Loire Valley Goat Cheese and Pyrenees Sheep Cheese with red wine pairings and French inspired charcuterie. $22.09
  • August 17th: Food and Film: The Greenhorns Film Project – Enjoy 6 local cheeses, 2 cured meats, fresh greens, and 2 beers while watching Greenhorns, the film about new American young farming. $37.92

Of course Beecher’s Handmade Cheese, out of Seattle, opened in the neighborhood at 20th and Broadway last year with their award winning cheese, and Eataly at 24th and 5th Avenue features an excellent selection of Italian style cheeses.
