With its non-chain feel, great music, friendly crew, library area, and fair trade coffee, Birch Coffee (5 E 27th St) is one of the best spots for coffee in the Flatiron, Madison Square Park, and Nomad neighborhoods. So when we heard it is closing, our hearts briefly sunk. But don’t worry, it’s actually reopening about 100ft down the same block to 21 east 27th street (between 5th and Madison). The space will have over 40ft of frontage on 27th Street. Interestingly they were at the base of the Gershwin Hotel, and now they will be in the same building (but separate entrance) as the MAve Hotel.
Co-founder of Birch Paul tells us that “The space is going to flow even better and we’ll have an additional espresso machine to help during our morning and afternoon rushes! Jeremy and I of course are sad to be leaving our home for the last 4 1/2 years, but know that this space is going to be even better for our clients and our crew.“
Word is they are currently selling pre-paid Founder’s Cards at the current location that you can use at the new place.
Birch Coffee closing at the Gershwin…and reopening 100 ft away,
