Calexico carne asada tacos

Another highlight at the 2011 Fall Madison Square Eats food stands near Madison Square Park is Vendy-award-winning Calexico. Now truth be told, they have a food cart set up at 25th and 5th/Broadway daily all the time, but we still couldn’t resist grabbing a couple tacos. The concept is California/Mexican inspired tacos, quesadillas, and burritos and as a Californian who likes his Mexican food, it’s legit.

I prefer the tacos to the burritos and think the carne asada (two for $4) and pork tacos (two for $3) are great. Add the ‘chipotle crack sauce’ for some additional spicy creamy flavor. You can check out the Calexico Cart menu to see all that they serve.

Madison Square Eats is hosted by the Madison Square Park Conservancy and serves food daily from 11am-9pm until October 21st in the Worth Square area just west of Madison Square Park (@ 24th and 5th Avenue).

Here are the Madison Square Eats Menus from almost every stand!
