Devi is now a Baluchi's

Earlier this month Devi (8 East 18th Street between 5th and Broadway) shut its doors for good, and has been replaced by a Baluchi’s (which is now open). Devi at one point was a neighborhood favorite for refined Indian cuisine, with celebrity chef Suvir Saran heading the kitchen.

But there was an ownership change a couple years back, and competition in the same ‘high-end’ Indian niche got tougher with the success of Tamarind a few blocks up on 22nd Street, and newcomer Junoon on 24th Street, not to mention the dozen spots on Lexington in the upper 20’s.

Baluchi’s is now open in the same spot for dining in or delivery. Here is the Baluchi’s menu (http://www.baluchis.com/ShowMenu.tpl?cart=133513478617146206&vSHOWMENU=2626). This location is the 8th Baluchi’s in Manhattan.
