Eataly in New York City: Signs lease at 200 5th Avenue off Madison Square Park

The New York Times reports that mega-Italian artisinal grocery, Eataly, has signed a lease for 32,000 square feet of space off of Madison Square park at 200 5th Avenue, including 8,000 square feet of rooftop garden.
The Eataly in Turin features 8 restaurants, 2 cafes, and a gelato stand in addition to the market. The market alone is a great improvement to the Madison Square Park neighborhood, which lacks even a basic grocery store north of 23rd through the 20′s.
Estimated open date is June 2010.

This is awesome- I seriously can’t wait until this opens up. Chelsea Market is too far away from me.
