Bar BretonWhile there’s a lot of talk right now about The Breslin, right around the corner you will find another relatively new star of the same neighborhood, Bar Breton (254 5th Avenue between 28/29th street). The outside cart featuring homemade ice cream is gone for the winter, but inside you can find cuisine inspired by the Brittany area of France, including the buckwheat crepes known as galettes. Bar Breton is the creation of Chef Cyril Renaud of Fleur de Sel fame.

bar breton burgerIt’s natural to go to Bar Breton for the galettes, but beyond them, standouts include the Duck Confit & Romaine Salad, the BB Burger, and some incredibly addictive chocolate mousse topped with just a bit of salt. The BB burger was included this year among the best burgers in New York City as rated by New York Magazine.
