Saturday we checked out the ilili food stand at Madison Square Market, easily identifiable by the giant rotisserie whole lamb, which is attracting more photographic attention than the famous Flatiron Building these days.

The food stand at ilili offers a wide selection of choices and we have included the full menu here. We tried the Markook Chicken pressed sandwich, which was excellent. It is an old favorite from owner Philippe Massoud’s childhood and features pulled chicken, garlic whip and pickled Lebanese cucumbers. The cucumbers really make the sandwich.

We also tried the sumac salt fries, which they make on demand and have just the right amount of salt and spice.

Madison Square Mark’t is currently open each day through October 23rd with popup shops and a food square daily from 11am-8pm on the west side of Madison Square Park.
