Chicken tikka

Chicken tikka

The ‘Chipotle of Indian food’, indikitch (25 West 23rd Street between 5th and 6th Avenue), is now open just west of Madison Square Park. You basically pick your main entree (Chicken Tikka, Pulled Pork Vindaloo, Goan Fish, Paneer Tikka, Mushroom Kadai, Saag Paneer) and your choice of rice (Basmati, Brown, Saffron), Naan (Original, Wheat, Garlic), Dal (Classic Dal, Chick Peas, Yellow Lentil), and side salad (Carrot, Beet, Cucumber). Cost is ~ $10. They also have Samosas, Mulligatawny Soup, and other a la carte dishes. Here is the menu.

They also cook from scratch using natural non-GMO ingredients without hormones, preservatives, or antibiotics. The concept is reportedly from the family behind frozen Indian food Tandoor Chef, which you have probably seen in the freezer at the grocery store.

This is their first location, but rumor is they are going to open another open another one near Columbus Circle.

We quickly tried the Chicken Tikka (Marinated in Tandoori Spices and roasted) and it was surprisingly good. I feared a bland watered down version of real Indian food but it was not the case. We definitely have a lot of great options for Indian food in the neighborhood, but this was right up there with the best of them. I am definitely going back for a full meal.indikitch is now open in the Flatiron, and it’s good!, 4.0 out of 5 based on 3 ratings
