It took a blizzard to finally walk into Eataly (200 5th Avenue just east of Madison Square Park) and get a table without a wait at La Pizza & Pasta restaurant. We had tried the Eataly pizza from the takeout counter, but wanted to see what it was like right out of the oven at the restaurant.

We ordered the Massese pizza ($14 – mozzarella, tomato sauce, salami, fresh basil) as well as Pasta Al Forno All ‘Italiana lasagne with traditional Italian ragu ($16). The pizza was solid, with a nice spicy salami that gave it a bold flavor. It’s Neapolitan style with a thin crust.

The surprise this time was the lasagne though. The noodle is freshly made and super thin and I thought it was unlike any lasagne I had ever had, mostly due to the thin fresh pasta. It’s definitely worth trying.

Here is the Eataly pizza menu and the pasta menu.
