Last chance for one of the biggest BBQ events in the world, right here in Madison Square Park this weekend (June 7th and 8th). The Big Apple BBQ is in its 12th year and features some of the best pitmasters in the country serving up bbq all weekend.
There are 17 stands each featuring a few items (pulled pork, ribs, chicken, sausage, etc) for about $9 each.
Because the event features the best pitmasters in the United States cooking up different regional styles you really get to try some different bbq styles from places like Alabama, Tennessee, Texas, Mississippi, Nevada, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia, Missouri, Illinois, and of course NYC.
They start the smokers Friday and by Saturday morning the lines get long for an amazing array of tasty bbq all in one place. Best bet is to split up among friends into different lines and then sit down in Madison Square Park to share and enjoy the different flavors (or buy the fastpass).
There are also regional music bands playing both days.
