It’s the last day of Big Apple BBQ, where the country’s best pitmasters take over Madison Square Park and cook up some amazing bbq. Walk stand to stand and sample ribs, brisket, pulled pork, chicken, homemade sausage and more.

Lines were long yesterday so be prepared. It’s free to roam around and $8 to try the stand’s food (proceeds go to the Madison Square Park Conservancy). Local favorites Hill Country, Blue Smoke, Wildwood, and Rack and Soul will be there, along with 14 other bbq masters from Texas, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Alabama, Mississippi, Kentucky, Georgia and Illinois. Live music as well featuring Secret Country, Carolyn Wonderland, Bob Schneider, the Derailers, Charles Bradley, and Nick Curran & the Lowlifes.

Before you go: Click the map (to expand it) of where all the stands are around the perimeter of the park.

It’s one of the best events in the city if you like BBQ and it runs from 11am-6pm. More info at http://www.bigapplebbq.org/

Here are some photos taken today of Ed Mitchell’s (Raleigh, NC) pulled pork sandwich and Pappy’s Smokehouse (St Louis, Mo) baby back ribs.
