The US Open 2012 tennis tournament is being shown now through Sunday on the jumbotron screen in Madison Square Park and along with great tennis, there are some nice food options from SD26, Choza Taqueria, and the The Cannibal. (11am-11pm!)


  • Porchetta- Roman Style roast pork on a rosetta roll ($8)
  • Verdura – grilled summer vegetables on a rosetta roll ($7)
  • Pizza Bianca – focaccia with mortadella ($6)
  • Pappa al Pomodoro – Tuscan Bread & tomato stew, fresh basil and olive oil ($6)
  • Bombolini – filled with lemon pastry cream ($2)

Choza Taqueria:

  • Tacos (3 per order)- Carnitas, Pollo, and/or Calabacin ($10)
  • Elote Grilled Corn- with chile crema and queso fresca ($5)
  • Ensaladas- Carnitas, Pollo, and/or Calabacin ($9)
  • Tamales – daily selection ($4)
  • Mexican beer, sangira, aguas fresca

The Cannibal:

  • Pig’s head Cuban- with Vermont ham, pickle, swiss cheese ($10)
  • Cannibal Grilled Cheese – with pork belly ($12)
  • Club Sandwich – House roasted turkey, bacon and gruyere ($14)
  • Kale Salad  – with pear, maple pecans, dijon vinaigrette ($12)
  • Beer and wine

If you haven’t been, it’s a great way to watch the matches in a crowd if you cant get to the actual event. It’s totally free to watch! People get really into it. It’s hosted by the Madison Square Park Conservancy and sponsored by American Express.
