A reader reports and Eater confirms that Mizu Sushi (29 East 20th Street) has signs up that it is closed for renovation.

In the restaurant world, this phrase “closed for renovation” seems to lead to permanent closure about half the time, and it’s hard to tell which direction Mizu will go. It is one of the more popular and better quality sushi spots in the neighborhood.

Anyone from the restaurant world know what is happening with Mizu, or what is going on behind the scenes when restaurants temporarily close like this? How often is it actually renovations, and how often is it financial/chef/management/lease issues?
