Finally out of mourning for the loss of both the Turkey Cubano and the Olive Oil Poached Tuna sandwich off the menu at No 7 Sub (1188 Broadway between 28th/29th street @ the ACE Hotel), I rolled in to try the tuna’s closest replacement, the Olive Oil Poached Arctic Char.

The Char features Shishito Peppers, Fried Shallots, and Hummus, and much like all of their sandwiches, I am just blown away by the quality of the ingredients. I mean this would be a good piece of fish if served on a plate at a fine restaurant, and here it is in a sandwich, so commonly the domain of processed meats and cheeses. But that’s the difference at No 7 Sub – you pay more ($9), but the ingredients are tremendously fresh and creative. They have re-invented sandwiches. Here is the current No 7 Sub menu. It’s also of note that the sandwiches are huge, and can easily be split or make a second meal later.

Definitely stop by for lunch at No 7 Sub. They are open Monday-Friday in the mornings for breakfast sandwiches, and then 11:30am-5:30pm (or until they run out of bread) for their core sandwiches.
