Some detective work tells us that a new location of Obikà Mozzarella Bar is likely to open in the Flatiron at 928 Broadway (between 21st and 22nd Street) in the old Stuzzi Restaurant spot. Obika Mozzarella Bar has another NYC location at Madison and 56th Street, as well as in Los Angeles, Italy, the UK, Japan, and Dubai. The Italian restaurant specializes in Mozzarellas di Bufala, as well as small dishes, antipasti, organic salads, soups, and pastas.

It’s an interesting move into a neighborhood already crowded with Italian food (including Stuzzi, its predecessor in the space, plus all of Eataly, A Voce, Maialano, Manzo, Birierra, Zio, Lulu & Me, SD26, Aselina, Basta Pasta, Brio Downtown, i Trulli, Magia Osteria Italiana, and pizza spots Forcella, Waldy’s, La Pizza Fresca, Grimaldis, Zero Otto Nove, Tappo, and Eataly le Pizze.), but we wish them well. It will only make the voting for Best Italian Restaurant in the Flatiron more competitive in the coming years.
