Public Hearings for Big Apple BBQ
As some of you have heard, two committees of Community Board 5 have voted to block the Big Apple BBQ from holding its event in Madison Square Park. Well there are two upcoming public hearings that you can attend to listen in and voice your opinion on the topic.
Thursday April 7th (6pm): Joint Session Parks and Consents & Variances Committee Hearing at the SGI – USA NY Culture Center located at 7 East 15th Street
Thursday April 14th (6pm): Full Community Board Hearing at St Xavier High School at 30 West 16th Street (2nd Floor Library)
The Big Apple BBQ is currently slated for June 11th and 12th of 2011 in Madison Square Park. The event features some of the country’s best pit-masters serving up BBQ over the weekend.
If you have an opinion one way or another on this issue, you can attend the meeting or contact Community Board 5 (http://www.cb5.org/cb5/contact/srequest/).

Anyone know where we can find the Pros/Cons that the committee’s are debating?

I have heard it is a few committee members who feel it is too big for the park, blocks it from use from other people during that weekend, and causes damage. Personally I love the event.
