San Rocco restaurant (39 West 24th street between 5th and 6th Avenue), the Italian spot on the ground floor of the Wyndham hotel, has closed. It has been replaced by another Italian restaurant called Tre Estelle, with made to order dishes by Chef Stefano Ferro. Although it is under new ownership, a call to the restaurant suggests they will be using the same menu as San Rocco was the last 6 months. If this is the case, definitely try the made-at-the-tableside Carbonara. It was seriously delicious.

In an interesting marketing twist, the name, Three Stars, is the name and not necessarily the rating by any food critics. But we have to hand it to them for creative naming that will probably impress most tourists.

They also have a nice little patio out front for these beautiful summer/fall weather days. More info to come as we get it. Get your reservation at http://www.opentable.com/tre-stelle.
