DC-area favorite Sweetgreen is coming to NYC, and setting up just north of Madison Square Park at 1164 Broadway (between 27th and 28th Street), often referred to as Nomad. Sweetgreen features farm to table salads, wraps, frozen yogurt and pressed juice. As Yelper Cliff W put it, “this is Chopt’s older, cooler, and much hotter sister.”

It’s worth checking out their website and menu (http://sweetgreen.com/menu) to get an idea of what they are about. They have an assortment of specialty salads/wraps, but you can also of course make your own. They also have a popular frozen yogurt that people seem to go there in pursuit of.

What’s nice about the location is that we really do not have a fresh salad place north of 23rd Street. It’s also along a stretch of Broadway with great lunch options such as No. 7 Sub, the upcoming Num Pang, and Hill Country Chicken. The first Sweetgreen opened in Georgetown in 2007.

Word is a 2013 opening, but construction appears underway now.
