Somehow we completely missed this back in late November, but the Vig 27 space at 119 E. 27th Street (between Park Avenue South and Lexington Avenue), is now the Caulfield restaurant and bar.

The name conjures up Holden Caulfield of Catcher in the Rye, and the theme carries through to a few drink names (Phoebe’s Heart, Hunters Hat, Caulfield Cooler), but the high-end Mexican food departs from the theme. Menu items include Enchiladas, Burritos, 7 kinds of tacos (from Carne Asada to shrimp to squash) and Carnitas or Chorizo Skillets. According to Grubstreet, the Caulfield is apparently owned by the guys behind the Vig Bar, the Volstead, and Choza Taquería.

New York Magazine posted both the food menu and the cocktail menu.
