It’s the last week of Madison Square Eats! Next up we tried the the Pig’s Head Cuban sandwich from The Cannibal  food stand at Madison Square Eats. The Cannibal is a sister restaurant to Belgian restaurant Resto (111 E 29th Street), which we have loved in the past for their mussels, burger, and their similarly named Tete de Cochon appetizer (a pastrami rubbed ”pig’s head’ sandwich).

The Pig’s Head Cuban from the Cannibal featured a pressed baguette, thin pickle slices, and freshly carved pork, ham and gruyere. It had all the ingredients to be great, but in our opinion needed just a little more zing from the pickles, and a little more meat. But overall it was satisfying and could be easily made great with a few more pickles and pieces of pork.

The Cannibal restaurant is located at 113 East 29th Street between Park & Lex and serves a full menu of freshly made hot sandwiches as well as an awesome and very large beer menu. Check them out at http://thecannibalnyc.com/.

Beyond the Pig’s Head Cuban they also serve Curried Egg Salad ($10), Sloppy Lamb ($10), Herr’s Chips ($2), and beer (Six Point Crisp, Hennepin, Nebraska Brunette, Allagash Black)

Madison Square Eats is hosted by the Madison Square Park Conservancy and serves food daily from 11am-9pm until October 21st in the Worth Square area just west of Madison Square Park (@ 24th and 5th Avenue).

Here are the Madison Square Eats Menus from almost every stand!
