It was kind of hard to even know it was there, but Todd English had a restaurant called Crossbar in the Limelight Marketplace at 6th Avenue and 20th Street (also the home of the Manahattan Grimaldi’s) and Eater reports that it has closed. People loved the Lobster Guacamole and the pork sliders, but because the space is in the infamous old church (with few windows), it was easy to walk by it.

Nonetheless, English (along with DUAL Groupe hospitality) will try again in the space, this time with a French restaurant called Chateau Cherbuliez which will open later this summer according to Eater. The new restaurant has been described as “a provencal-style French wine bar, fine dining restaurant, and outdoor vineyard and oyster bar”. Yes that’s right, cancel your trip to Napa, they will have an outdoor vineyard. We don’t yet know the significance of the name Chateau Cherbuliez or why the logo states it was established in NY in 1845, but I am sure there is a story there.

We hope this restaurant works, and look forward to checking out the vineyard!
