While our recent informal poll found MadParkNews readers were overwhelmingly in favor (85%) of keeping the Big Apple BBQ event in Madison Square Park, what did the Community Board decide to do. Well now we know.

As you have heard, there was an initial vote by two committees of Community Board 5 to ban the event from Madison Square Park which started the current debate. However a source tells us that according to Community Board 5 District Manager Wally Rubin, the full Board met and they will not be making a decision this year, but rather forming a task force to better understand how this event (and other events) impact the surrounding area. Seems like a smart approach.

So the Big Apple BBQ is on for June 11th and 12th of 2011 in Madison Square Park. The event features some of the country’s best pit-masters serving up BBQ over the weekend.
