gershwin hotel front

One of the most unique hotels in New York City, the Gershwin Hotel (7 East 27th Street, just north of Madison Square Park) first grabs attention from the outside. The building is bright red, and features horn-like sculptures coming out of the facade (see photo).

Rooms range from $45 on a floor for ‘up and coming models’ to $445 for a multi-room suite. The hotel supports the arts, both with Warhols and other pop art throughout, and an annual artist in residence who lives there.

Yelpers give it 3 stars, and are all over the place with interspersed 1 stars and 4 star reviews. TripAdvisor concurs, also with a 3 star overall rating.

The location puts visitors right above Madison Square Park and all of the Flatiron restaurants, and a few blocks from the Empire State Building.
