Madison Square Park Hawk is reported dead
In some very sad news, word is in that the Madison Square Park red-tailed Hawk was found dead in the park. And multiple (yet unsubstantiated) sources have reported that the cause of death was from eating a poisoned rat.
The hawk was a favorite among locals and tourists in Madison Square Park, and fed on the pigeons and squirrels (and apparently rats) native to the area.
More to come as we get it.

I have been photographing the Raptor’s in MSQP for some months.
If the report is that the deceased hawk is a juvenile I feel
that it is not the same hawk that we usually witness in the
park which already has a Red tail ,a sign of maturity.
That being said just before Christmas day I photographed that
mature Red Tail hawk showing signs if disorientation and limping and sent the photo’s to Dr. Robert DeCandido a bird
expert who then said the mature Hawk might have an unbalance
issue likely eating a dead rat that itself had ingested
poison, Looking forward to Ward Stone’s autopsy report to solve this mystery between our oft seen juvenile and mature
raptor’s.
