The Museum of Mathematics, aka the MoMath, is set to open December 15th on the north side of Madison Square Park (11 East 26th Street) with an opening ceremony party on 12/12/12. The state of the art museum will feature dozens of math related exhibits ‘that will showcase the beauty, creativity, and real world applications of mathematics’. In concept it has been compared to San Francisco’s amazing Exploratorium. The MoMath was founded by Glen Whitney and recently received a $2 million grant from Google. Whitney was formerly the algorithm manager at hedge fund Renaissance Technologies. There is reportedly no other museum of mathematics in the United States.

Tickets to the opening ceremony party are $1,500 each, so it is likely to serve as a big fundraising event for the not-for-profit organization. Buy tickets at https://in.momath.org/civicrm/event/register?id=44&reset=1.
