Crains reports that a lease has just been signed at 11 East 26th Street on the north side of Madison Square Park by the Museum of Mathematics. The MoMath, as it is called, was founded by Glen Whitney and recently received a $2 million grant from Google. Whitney was formerly the algorithm manager at hedge fund Renaissance Technologies.

The state of the art museum is slated to open in the fall of 2012 and will feature dozens of math related exhibits ‘that will showcase the beauty, creativity, and real world applications of mathematics’. In concept it has been compared to San Francisco’s amazing Exploratorium.
