Update June 19th: The hawk was seen again yesterday on a tree branch in Madison Square Park!
June 14th – Today a new hawk has been spotted in Madison Square Park, hunting a pigeon. As many of you will recall, we had a resident red-tail hawk in Madison Square Park until earlier this year, when it was found dead, allegedly from rat poison. The last hawk was hugely popular with locals and tourists alike, and hopefully this new hawk will make the park its home. We also hope there are better safeguards against rat poisoning this time around.
Here is a photo that we hastily got, but we will get a better one next time around.
