[UPDATE JANUARY 2013: Milk & Honey Flatiron is OPEN]
According to the New York Times, Lower East Side ‘speakeasy’ and cocktail mecca Milk & Honey is going to re-locate to the Madison Square Park area this August. It will open up at 30 East 23rd Street just west of Madison Square Park in what we believe to be a currently vacant space next to Subway Sandwiches.
The original Milk & Honey was reservation-only, with a semi-secret number, no menu, and had no sign out front. Interestingly, owner Sasha Petraske told the Times that all of that word-of-mouth coolness was simply to keep the peace with residents who were told ‘no one would ever know there was a bar there’, in order to get the ok to run the bar.
At the new location the reservation system and secrecy will be dropped, but the impeccably made cocktails will remain.
