Huge flagship LEGO store to go in at 200 5th Avenue next to Madison Square Park

One of the greatest toy companies ever, LEGO, will be setting up a flagship store in New York City at 200 5th Avenue right across from Madison Square Park, reports the NY Post. They just signed a deal for 7,703 square feet in the retail space currently held by Fidelity (next to Marimekko and Eataly). What an awesome addition to the neighborhood (fittingly in what was once called the Toy Building) from one of the most timeless and creative toys in existence. Word is they will open in January 2014. Kids get ready!

And now that they will be in the neighborhood, maybe they can make a Flatiron Building LEGO set, just like they have the LEGO Empire State Building.

200 5th Avenue reaches 100% occupancy with Tiffany & Co expansion

According to the NY Post, Tiffany & Co took on another full floor at 200 5th Avenue (between 23rd and 24th Street) for their headquarters, bringing the Madison Square Park adjacent building to 100% occupancy.

The building was gutted a few years back for a much needed modernization, and even with failed bank Lehman Brothers as a partial owner (whose stake was sold) they were able to land Grey Group as the first marquis tenant, followed by Eataly, then Tiffany & Co, and Marimekko in the retail space.

Overall it has been an incredible success with absolute top-tier tenants that improve the neighborhood.

Marimekko opens flagship us store in the Flatiron next to Madison Square Park

The Marimekko flagship store is now open at 200 5th Avenue just west of New York’s Madison Square Park (adjacent to Eataly). Marimekko features clothing, accessories and home products, including tons of fabric so you can make your own stuff. Marimekko was founded in Finland.

They are known for their vibrant, original prints and creative designs featured on all of their merchandise.

The store was designed by Japanese architectural firm IMA and is just under 4000 square feet, according to a news release.

“Opening a shop of our own in an excellent location in the heart of Manhattan will support our strategy of building up Marimekko’s profile and strengthening the brand image” stated President and CEO Mika Ihamuotila.

And if you saw the bright umbrellas and tablecloths currently at Madison Square Eats, yes those are Marimekko prints.

Another forgotten fact is that Jacqueline Kennedy brought Marimekko fashions to the US spotlight in the 1960′s when she had many of their dresses. Sex and the City also featured Carrie in a Marimekko bikini and dress.
