The ‘Let Us Eat Local’ tasting event is tonight at the Altman Building (135 West 18th Street between 6th and 7th Avenue) and features some of the cities best restaurants including neighborhood favorites ABC Kitchen, Gramercy Tavern, Blue Hill,and Pure Food and Wine. The organization “connects rural and urban communities and provides them with the training and tools to create a thriving local food system.”

Last night was the Flatiron Chefs event in Madison Square Park, which raises loads of money to support the upkeep of and free programs in Madison Square Park . The event featured 26 of the best chefs and restaurants in the neighborhood serving up signature tastes of some amazing food. You pretty much could not go wrong with any of the food and it’s astounding to think that all of these restaurants rival the best food in the world, and they are within blocks of the Madison Square Park neighborhood. It was hosted by the Madison Square Park Conservancy. Here are some mouth-watering images from the event.

The menus have been announced for the Celebrate Flatiron Chefs event Tuesday July 12th (6:30pm, 5:30pm VIP) in Madison Square Park. Tickets are still available and include tastes from any of the 26 participating restaurants, plus wine, cocktails, and Stumptown Coffee. The annual James Beard awards were announced yesterday for the best restaurants and chefs in the USA. Madison Square Park restaurant Eleven Madison Square Park and the Flatiron’s ABC Kitchen dominated taking home the folliwng of the biggest awards:

Eater compiled a list of the top 12 restaurants with the “Hottest Clientele”, and for what it’s worth, our neighborhood’s very own ABC Kitchen (35 East 18th St) and the Breslin (20 west 29th street) made the cut.
