Todd English’s (along with DUAL Groupe hospitality) Château Cherbuliez is now open in the Limelight Marketplace at 6th Avenue and 20th Street (also the home of the Manhattan Grimaldi’s). The new restaurant brings the food and wine of Southern France to New York City and offers lots of wines by the glass, cocktails, small plates (Heirloom Tomato Ricotta Sorbet Fresh Basil salad, Foie Gras au Torchon with grilled bread, Tartine d’Escargot, Steak Tartare with crispy potatoes) and large plates (Burger Château, Steak Frites, Moules Frites, Cold or Grilled Lobster with Créole Sauce). See the full menu at http://chateaunyc.com/menu.
A little bit of trivia…the “1845” you see in the Château Cherbuliez is a nod to the famous/infamous Gothic Revival Church that house the restaurant which was built in 1845. Of course we also know the church as the site of the Limelight nightclub before it’s rebirth as a marketplace in 2010.
