Château Cherbuliez is now open in the Flatiron

Todd English’s (along with DUAL Groupe hospitality) Château Cherbuliez is now open in the Limelight Marketplace at 6th Avenue and 20th Street (also the home of the Manhattan Grimaldi’s). The new restaurant brings the food and wine of Southern France to New York City and offers lots of wines by the glass, cocktails, small plates (Heirloom Tomato Ricotta Sorbet Fresh Basil salad, Foie Gras au Torchon with grilled bread, Tartine d’Escargot, Steak Tartare with crispy potatoes) and large plates (Burger Château, Steak Frites, Moules Frites, Cold or Grilled Lobster with Créole Sauce). See the full menu at http://chateaunyc.com/menu.

A little bit of trivia…the “1845″ you see in the Château Cherbuliez is a nod to the famous/infamous Gothic Revival Church that house the restaurant which was built in 1845. Of course we also know the church as the site of the Limelight nightclub before it’s rebirth as a marketplace in 2010.

Half off deal at Jezalin’s in the Limelight Marketplace

Today, Groupon has a deal at Jezalin’s, a great little gourmet shop in the Limelight Marketplace (the old church at 6th Avenue and 20th street) where a voucher you buy for $5 gets you $10 of sandwiches, salads, side salads, soups, or drinks.

We LOVE the Taste of Milan sandwich (photo above right), a simple combination of thinly sliced salami, provolone cheese, and roasted peppers on a fresh baguette . It’s a perfect quick and tasty lunch if you are in the area.

Jezalin’s is tucked in the back and features really good sandwiches, salads, and gourmet products and cheeses.

You buy it today and use it any time before May 31st, 2011. Read all deal details at www.groupon.com/new-york/.

Outdoor grill at Limelight Marketplace

Tucked into a side area of the Limelight Marketplace (20th Street at 6th Avenue), an outdoor grill serves up a menu of burgers, skirt steak (pictured here), grilled chicken, lobster rolls, pulled pork sandwiches and more (see menu).

We grabbed a skirt steak over mixed greens and found it overall a pretty good sandwich (it even seemed like the skirt steak was wrapped in bacon, which never hurts).

The Limelight Grill is apparently operated by Bruce Caulfield (Tracks Bar & Grill, Bruce’s Burger).

50% off Baci Gelato in the Flatiron’s Limelight Marketplace

Today, KGBDeals has an offer in the Flatiron where $4 gets you $8 of gelato at Baci Gelato (inside the Limelight Marketplace at 656 Sixth Avenue between 20th and 21st street).

You buy the deal this week and you can use it any time before February 10, 2011.

Yelpers give it a solid 5 stars!

See the deal at KGBdeals.com.

Sandwiches at Jezalin’s in the Limelight Marketplace

In the back of the lower level of the Limelight Marketplace (6th Avenue and 20th Street), a small gourmet shop called Jezalin’s offers up artisinal bread, cheeses, desserts, specialty seasonings and sauces as well as a nice menu of takeaway salads and sandwiches.

This is the first physical store for Jezalin’s, but they previously have operated (and still run) an online gourmet website, www.Jezalins.com.

At the store location they make over 15 special sandwiches as well five ‘Grab & Go’ ready-made sandwiches.

We have taken a liking to the Taste of Milan sandwich ($7.99), a simple combination of thinly sliced salami, provolone cheese, and roasted peppers on a fresh baguette (photo to the right). It’s a perfect quick lunch if you are in the area.
