Tanjore Indian food at Madison Square Mark’t

A late addition to the Madison Square Mark’t food lineup, Tanjore serves up combo plates of Indian food (both a vegetarian version and a non-veggie plate). It’s unclear if Tanjore has a restaurant in the city, and quick Google search doesn’t reveal much (anyone know?).

We tried the non-vegetarian combination which includes saag paneer (spinach with cheese), chana masala (chickpeas), and chicken tikka masala over rice for $9. It’s a huge portion of food and enough spice to it to not make you feel like you are getting some completely Americanized ‘watered down’ version of Indian food.

In short, it’s good stuff.

Roberta’s pizza at Madison Square Mark’t

Coming in from Brooklyn with their mobile pizza oven, Roberta’s serves up at least 4 pizzas every day at the Madison Square Mark’t which they make as you order them. They are not pre-made or sitting under heat lamps. We tried the Margherita (tomato, mozzarella, basil) which was excellent. This is an actual photo of the pie (click to enlarge). Good stuff!

Madison Square Mark’t is currently open each day through October 23rd with popup shops and a food square daily from 11am-8pm on the west side of Madison Square Park.

Crepes by Suzette at Madison Square Mark’t

One standout at the Madison Square Mark’t is the Hoisin Duck crepe at the Crepes by Suzette food stand. The price is a bit steep at $12, but its a filling meal with incredibly tender sliced duck with thinly cut cucumber and hoisin sauce. This is no average street food, it could be served in [...]

ilili at Madison Square Market

Saturday we checked out the ilili food stand at Madison Square Market, easily identifiable by the giant rotisserie whole lamb, which is attracting more photographic attention than the famous Flatiron Building these days. The food stand at ilili offers a wide selection of choices and we have included the full menu here. We tried the [...]
