San Domenico Restaurant, in its new incarnation as SD26 on Madison Square Park, hosted a pre-opening event tonight (Saturday night).
The Italian standout thrived on Central Park South for 20 years, but will get new life on 26th Street, across the park from heavy hitters Eleven Madison Park, Tabla, and A Voce.
When SD26 opens this month (or next), they will feature a small touch-screen device that customers can use to choose among 1000 bottles of wine, reports the New York Times. Three newcomers to the Madison Square Park area had stands at the Flatiron Chefs event and MadParkNews.com did some investigating as to when they might open their respective doors in the area.
The Breslin featured a pork belly sandwich, craftbar had fresh bacon with heirloom tomato and bibb lettuce, Fatty Crab/Cue had a whole smoked pig, Picknick had Smoked Pork Sliders with coleslaw, Pranna had a bacon wrapped prawn satay, Punch had a BBQ pork & bean sausage roll, Resto had Pork with carbonade BBQ sauce & pickles on thick cut pullman bread, and SD26 had rosemary scented roasted pork served on fresh country bread.
